History of Canada
There are many events that have happened within Canada that have made the nation what it is today. From the early settlement in the country with the Aboriginal people inhabiting the land, to the formation of colonies and settlements. The land of Canada has gone through many different territories of numerous countries, but in 1867 they formed their own confederation. On July 1st of 1867 was the day that the first 4 provinces of the country were created. Then the country of Canada along with the rest of the world had a set back with the First World War. Canada lost about 61,000 citizens. After the war the Great depression quickly spread from the United States into Canada. This caused the economy to tank and many citizens lost their jobs. Soon another World War hit and Canada placed their first independent declare of war on Germany. This not only proved Canada’s national ability, but also independence from other counties. Canada has recently decided to stay out of the war in Iraq. They are currently celebrating their most recent victory in 2010 at the Vancouver Olympics were they set the new record for most gold medals won (14).
